Yellowstone tourists come face-to-face with the park’s rarest animal

While visiting Yellowstone Park, a group of wildlife enthusiasts had a once-in-a-lifetime meeting with one of the park’s most elusive animals – a wolverine. The passengers and their tour guide were both stunned by the incredibly unusual sighting. Fortunately, the incident was captured on tape!

“We turned around to go back when I noticed what I thought was a black bear running down the road,” one of the tourists, Carl Kemp, said. “As soon as it turned, we understood we were in the midst of a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!”

Last Saturday, a party of tourists was driving through the wildlife area when a wolverine crossed the road just in front of them. It even came to a halt and peered at them from a safe distance. The extraordinary experience lasted only a few minutes, but it was long enough to captivate the party, who included a 9-year-old girl with her father.

“For the rest of the tour, the 9-year-old daughter couldn’t stop saying, ‘Wow… we saw a wolverine today!'” According to MacNeil Lyons, the trip operator’s owner, For The Win Outdoors. “She told me that was the most incredible day of her life.”

Lyons even took to Facebook to inform folks about his once-in-a-lifetime adventure!

The chances of seeing a wolverine in Yellowstone are incredibly slim, let alone having one cross your path, so these travellers should count themselves extremely fortunate. The park is home to only seven (documented) wolverines!
