As Kimberly Still cared for a dying woman, she learned how much the patient cherished her loyal friend, Jax the Chihuahua. Therefore, when her patient passed away, Still took steps to guarantee Jax would not spend his final days in a shelter.
A Georgia nurse is being praised for an exceptional act of kindness she performed for a dying patient she cared for.
As Kimberly Still cared for a woman in her final days, she became acquainted with the patient’s family and discovered how much the patient adored her trusty Chihuahua, Jax. After his owner passed away, Jax had nowhere to live, and he wound himself in a shelter outside of Atlanta, where he was at risk of being euthanized.
And for Still, that was simply unacceptable.
“This puppy was her only thing in life, and she loved him so much; he was at her side through so much,” Still told Inside Edition. So I thought, well, I must go get this puppy.

The relationship between Jax and Still’s other dog is as though they’ve always been companions.
Still has received an award for great compassion for the ultimate act of kindness she performed for her patient, but to hear her tell it, the honor is all hers.
“It has been really ideal. I believe we were destined to be together,” she remarked.
