LOS ANGELES — At an adoption event conducted at Dodger Stadium on Saturday, dozens of puppies found new homes.

The Los Angeles Dodgers held their first-ever dog adoption event at Dodger Stadium this weekend, and organizers say it was a success. On Saturday, 62 of the more than 100 canines available for adoption were adopted. According to organizers, the event had the highest adoption rate of any Los Angeles Animal Services mobile adoption event in history.

Lucy Pet Foods — the business co-owned by former Dodger pitcher Orel Hershiser and Dodger broadcasters Jaime Jarrn and Jorge Jarrn — and all six Los Angeles City Animal Services shelters co-hosted the event.

Every available dog had been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, licensed, and microchipped. Each dog also received pet food.

The organization has announced a second Pups in the Park event for its September 5 game against the San Francisco Giants. Fans will be able to parade their dog around the field’s warning track in addition to bringing a dog to the game. Tickets for that game are available at dodgers.com/pups.’
