This Woman Saves the Lives of Thousands of Cats in the City

Jennifer Barnes has found her calling in life.

Since 2014, she has been rescuing stray cats that roam the streets, in an attempt to find them a new home. While she does this out of the goodness of her heart, she’s actually providing a vital public service.

Incredibly, every single cat Jennifer is able to trap, she saves more than 425,000 unwanted kittens from being born.

As soon as she traps a cat, she takes it to be sprayed and neutered, then returns it to the colonies where they’re fed and cared for. This is a process known as TNR – which stands for Trap, Neuter, Release.

Jennifer’s work is all the more remarkable when you consider the fact that she doesn’t have a car. Her superhero rescue service is totally reliant on public transport!

After trapping a cat, she takes two or three buses across town to the People for Animals veterinary center in Jersey, so they can be spayed and neutered. The good folks there offer affordable vet care to those who need it most, and Jennifer certainly makes the most of their service.

If this wasn’t enough, Jennifer rescues and fosters cats herself, and also helps cats find their forever home, by posting updates on social media and encouraging people to keep up with their work.

Jennifer is one of those people with a huge heart and kindness that knows no bounds. In recognition of the fact that every animal deserves the best chance in life, she goes above and beyond to ensure stray cats in New Jersey & New York are cared for and looked after.
