When Kristin noticed a thirsty, somewhat confused Pitbull wandering alone in the searing heat in Phoenix, Arizona, she went over to lend a hand.
After being unable to trace the dog’s owners, she decided to take him home with her for food and water, and to clean him up as he was filthy.
She let the dog spend the night with her and he made himself right at home! He even snuggled under her armpit while she was asleep, and Kristin was already falling in love. She decided to call the dog Mo.
Before she could decide to keep Mo all for herself, Kristin did the responsible thing and went back out to the location where she picked him up, and tried to locate his owners. After all, if someone was looking for him, they would surely be worried sick by now.
After walking around for a while, she decided to take Mo to the local shelter. When Kristin was busy speaking to a staff member, Mo let out a high-pitched scream, unlike anything she had ever heard before!
Kristin was sad to leave Mo at the shelter, but she had to leave him there on ‘stray hold’ for three days, just in case his previous owners were looking for him and came to the shelter to ask about him. She even put up ‘found’ fliers and posted all over social media, hoping that Mo’s owners would see that he had been found.
The three days quickly passed and nobody turned up looking for Mo. Kristin decided there was only one thing she could do: adopt Mo and give him a loving home herself. And that’s exactly what she did.
Kristin put in lots of dedicated hours training Mo and making her small apartment as comfortable as possible for the big Pitbull! And then there was the screaming.
Every time Mo would get excited, he would let out a human sounding yelp, that just made Kristin laugh when she heard it the first few times. Although Kristin was worried Mo’s screaming might have been related to anxiety or even aggression, it was clear pretty soon that it was just excitement, and it’s one of the cutest things we’ve ever seen!
But Mo’s companionship even picked Kristin up when she was laid off from her job and facing financial difficulty. The friendship he showed her and the great times they shared were enough to motivate Kristin to find the job that she’d always dreamed of.
Now, they spend lots of their free time advocating for Pitbull type dogs that are often misrepresented and given up for all of the wrong reasons. There’s little doubt that theirs was indeed a match made in heaven!
What a beautiful story, thanks Kristin and Mo!
