Meet the Guy Caring for the Last Two Northern White Rhinos in Existence Today
James has a job like no other.
He is responsible for caring for the last two northern white rhinos in existence today. It’s a terrible shame that these magnificent animals have survived for millions of years, only to have been wiped out by mankind in a matter of decades.

While the plight of the northern white rhino is utterly devastating, there are some heroes that have tried to save them from total extinction.

James is one such person. Every day, he cares for Najin and Fatu and marvels at their unique personalities that make them such great company.

Najin and Fatu are given round the clock care and security, as their safety can’t even be guaranteed within the enclosure. Poachers pose a threat to even the final two white rhinos in the world, and James doesn’t think they would have any problem with killing Najin and Fatu for their horns.

Calling the Rhinos his ‘Royal Girls’ James understands their importance:
“They are ambassadors for millions of other species that are being threatened with extinction.”
Hopefully, in the near future IVF treatment will enable Najin and Fatu to give birth and add to the population of Northern White Rhinos. It’s terribly sad that the fate of a whole species has come to this, but we should be extremely grateful to people like James who are doing everything they can to preserve the rhino for future generations.

It’s certainly true that not all superheroes wear capes.
