“He extended his paw to her, as if to say, ‘Please help me get out of here.'”
According to kingdomstv.com, Florida-based Police Officer Angela Laurela recently got a report that two dogs had been tethered to polls on a roadway in Pompano.
Unfortunately, there are no street cameras in the area, so she can’t say how long they’ve been there or who left them.
Angela realized she had to act swiftly because it was an exceptionally hot day with temperatures reaching 100 degrees.
She discovered a frail-looking dog chained to a pole and unable to move much.
“He was chained to a pole with a very short leash, famished and dehydrated, with every bone and rib protruding.” The dog, now named Liam, reached out its paw to touch the police officer’s palm and bent its head. “She simply moved toward him gently and stretched out her hand, and he kind of cowered and gave her his paw, as if to say, ‘Please help me get out of here,'” says the author.
Because it was evident that Liam needed special care and attention, the officer contacted 100+ abandoned canines from the Florida Everglades. Despite the fact that the rescue facility was overcrowded, they welcomed Liam without hesitation.
Liam is eating more than ever before, regaining strength, and visiting the vet on a regular basis.
“He is surrounded by love 24 hours a day, seven days a week.” He is fed every hour on the hour, so his body becomes accustomed to it… We have volunteers preparing batches of boiled chicken and rice, so he’s having a good time right now.”
Liam is truly a ray of sunshine.
“He loves everything, and this dog has no nasty bones in his body,” Roman explained. “It says it all to me because, despite everything he’s been through, he’s still so appreciative and forgiving.”
“I believe humans can learn a thing or two from dogs like Liam; it just restores your confidence.”
